D&E Auto ("we," "us") is a personal car-buying concierge in Edmonton, Alberta. This policy explains how we handle the personal information you give us through www.deauto.ca. We follow Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
What we collect
- What you tell us: your name, mobile number, and email when you start a request; and anything you add — what you need a car to do, a rough budget, trade-in details (year, make, model, kilometres), or a preferred test-drive time.
- Pre-approval information: if you ask us to run your number, details needed for a soft-pull pre-approval, handled together with our lending partners.
- Automatically: the page you came from and campaign tags (UTM parameters), plus standard analytics and advertising data through cookies and pixels (see below).
Why we use it
- To respond to you and have the rep you chose follow up.
- To run your soft-pull pre-approval, source the right vehicle, value your trade, and arrange an at-home test drive or delivery.
- To handle financing and paperwork, and to keep records of our dealings with you.
- To measure and improve our advertising and website.
The soft pull
Checking your pre-approval number is a soft credit inquiry — it does not affect your credit score. A hard inquiry only happens later, with your explicit consent, if you decide to move forward on a specific vehicle and financing.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, under agreements to protect it:
- Close (close.com) — our customer relationship management (CRM) system, where your request is stored and routed to your rep.
- Convex — the secure database and backend that receives the form and stores your submission.
- Vercel — hosts this website.
- Lenders and financial institutions — only as needed to provide pre-approval and financing you request.
- Google and Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — for website analytics and advertising measurement (see cookies and pixels).
We may also disclose information if required by law.
Cookies, pixels & advertising
We use the Meta Pixel and Google (Google Ads & Analytics) to understand how our ads and pages perform and to show relevant ads. These set cookies and may receive standard event data (for example, that you visited a page or submitted a form). You can control these:
- Opt out of Google personalized ads: adssettings.google.com
- Manage Meta ad preferences: facebook.com/adpreferences
- Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal and business requirements, after which it is securely deleted or anonymized.
Your choices and rights
Under PIPA you may ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, and you may withdraw your consent to future contact at any time (this may limit our ability to help you). To make a request, contact us using the details below.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, but we work to protect it and limit access to those who need it.
Children
This site and our services are intended for adults able to enter a vehicle purchase. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above shows the latest version.
